Erri Berri Builds a Future-Ready Business with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud

In April 2024, Est Ensemble, an Établissement Public Territorial du Grand Paris grouping together nine towns in Seine Saint Denis and totalling over 440,000 inhabitants, decided to use generative AI for its calls for tenders, in order to automate part of the processing. The aim is to save staff time by simplifying public procurement award procedures and making tender analysis fairer and more objective.

To achieve this, Est Ensemble has chosen to call on Inetum, a European leader in digital services and solutions, to develop and operate a turnkey tool that runs on the Azure OpenAI engine. This will help agents analyze files and free up their time to make the right decisions.

Need for a unified, scalable digital system

The Challenge and The Decision to Transform

Although Erri Berri consistently invests in heavy machinery and operational growth, it also wanted to lead in digital infrastructure—moving toward an integrated, scalable solution to manage operations across multiple countries and tax jurisdictions.

Erri Berri’s leadership made a bold decision: to implement SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. The perception that SAP is only for large enterprises didn’t deter them—especially since their main clients are large companies. After a thorough market evaluation, they chose SAP for its robustness and best practices, and selected Inetum as their implementation partner. The goal was clear: adopt a standardized cloud solution that could scale with the business.

Fast rollout with major data and change-management steps

Implementation Journey

The project began in January 2024 and went live in July 2024—on time and within budget. A dedicated internal team of six people (from finance, technical, and project management areas) led the effort, balancing their daily responsibilities with the demands of the implementation process. Key challenges included

> Understanding and aligning with SAP’s standard processes

> Data migration, which required significant internal effort

> Change management, as teams had to adapt to new ways of working

Despite these obstacles, the team remained proactive, flexible, and committed, supported by Inetum’s expert consultants.

Stronger efficiency, automation, and transparency.
